Mongolia Photo Journey – July 2022

This journey experienced originally been planned for July 2020, then COVID occurred. I am eternally grateful that folks hung on to their reservations for two a long time and we ended up ready to have an incredible trip!

Our focus was cultural, though we did have a pretty number of wildlife sightings together with a critically endangered saiga antelope that galloped previous us in a flash.

We have been ready to stay with and photograph the legendary Kazakh eagle hunters and even crashed a wedding. Close to Khovd we went to a common festival referred to as a nadaam, with dusty, spirited horse races, and beefy wrestlers who produced small get the job done of soldiers who had been attending. Finally, as aspect of the team split off to photograph the endangered takhi (Przewalski’s horse) I was in a position to meet with shamans. In the Soviet era, Shamanism (and Buddhism) have been repressed, but the historic cultural traditions are building a resurgence.

The wide steppe and arid mountains of Mongolia are impressive. It is awe-inspiring to witness a rainstorm sweeping throughout the land and passing clouds dapple the hillsides. It is really just one of the past areas wherever 1 can experience so little however invigorated by character.
